The crown protection has protected the winding crown from strong external stresses since the development of the legendary Luminor. The left alignment of the patented mechanism on the PANERAI PAM 569 allows the watch to be worn on the right wrist, but those who are left-handed will greatly appreciate the convenient operation of the crown. Lovers of historical timepieces will also appreciate this arrangement, as the left arm was traditionally kept free for other maritime measuring devices.
A LARGE DIAL WITH HISTORY
The large dial was one of the most powerful innovations from the then family-owned PANERAI company; it was an essential feature of functional naval timepieces as it allowed readability even in the worst visibility. In 1949, Luminor -a self-luminous substance- replaced the radioactive Radiomir and led to the naming of the advanced diving watch, which was introduced the following year. The cushion-shaped case of the Radiomir was retained, but the size of the horns was massively increased. The case of the PANERAI PAM 569 is based on this prototype, and retains the diameter of 47 mm.
LUXURY FEATURES FOR SPORTING EXCURSIONS
The PANERAI PAM 569 with the case from 1950, has been developed with added innovations. Titanium increases the robustness, making the Luminor waterproof up to 30 bar (300 metres). The titanium also makes the watch surprisingly light. The functional bezel, made from brushed titanium makes the dial look smaller, whilst bright dot and line markings stand out sharply from the black dial. The ”Clous de Paris” pattern provides a fine dial structure. This model is fitted with a light, honey-coloured calf leather strap with contrasting stitching, and is exceedingly comfortable to wear. If you choose this version, you will be thrilled by the high wearing comfort and the performance of this watch on land as well as beneath the ocean waves.
TECHNOLOGY AT ITS BEST
The mechanical automatic calibre P.9000 achieves an impressive power reserve of 8 days. The movement operates at 28,800 alternations per hour, and places the small second at three o’clock and the date at nine o’clock. The patented Glucydur® balance and Incabloc® anti-shock device provide the movement with the highest possible levels of reliability.
