When it first showed up in the mid-nineties, the Mr-G took the G-Shock brand into unprecedented, near-luxury watch territory. After a few more renditions over the following years that garnered many obsessive fanboys, the MR-G line disappeared for a while. G-Shock has raided the tombs though, and resuscitated this former king, adding some serious mod cons and swag to forge the brand spanking new G-Shock MR-G 1000.
The design is apparently inspired by classic Japanese armour, which is renowned for flexibility and durability – attributes that G-Shock has long championed in its indestructible designs. They’ve gone all out with the premium materials used too; the band and bezel is crafted form titanium with a diamond-like coating (DLC) that makes it virtually scratch-proof. Other tidy details include the use of Sapphire Crystal and an anti-reflective coating that ensures optimum visibility of the time in any situation.
On the tech side, the new MR-G comes equipped with WaveCeptor hybrid time telling, which combines GPS and Multiband6, so you’re always gonna be keeping the correct clock no matter where you are. Constant resets won’t be necessary either, G-Shock is promoting this as their most precise wristwatch ever!
